Ricky Chouinard,
born on October 5 1961 in Rouyn-Noranda. Ricky started his career
at the age of 13 . Inspired by his Father Blackie , who is also
a singer and musician, he rapidly made his way in the country
music industry. The encouragement of his Mother Ruth, and the
experience of his Father helped him and still helps him in his
career. He started the "Travelin' Band" with his two
life-long friends, Alain Ouellet and Sylvain Lamothe, they played
back-up for such country artistes such as Roger Miron, Jerry and
Jo-Ann, along with many others . The band broke up 10yrs later.
In 1988, Ricky decided to move
away from the Abitibi region and went to the Beauce region, there
He met with Martial Gosselin , a great fiddle player. Martial
introduced Ricky to Rock Saucier, a well known country singer
in the Beauce , Quebec city area. They toured many times together
playing country festivals , bars, and corporate organizations.
After touring with Rock for a
little over two years, Ricky started his solo career , he was
baptized the "one-man band". In 1994, Jerry Robitaille(jerry
and jo-ann) along with Dougie Trineer helped him record his first
album "Ricky on Stage". The album sold a little over
8000 copies.
In 1997, Ricky moved to Montréal
where his talent in music and his down to earth humor made him
one of the most booked musiciens.
In 2003, Ricky cut two new albums,with
the writings of His Aunt Francoise Chouinard Foster, and his long
time buddy Albert Babin, were born "Tous l'Monde Contre"
and "Ricky Chouinard et Albert Babin sing Waylon and Willie".
To this day, Ricky Chouinard
is more and more in demand on the country music circut, playing
across the province and the Maritimes!
